if you're voting republican, you gotta be :-)

Even O'Bummer is funnier that Sarah PayPalin.
Has a root in reality, you know.

Кстати, тоже неплохо!
Да нет, сам каламбур никакого отношения к реальности не имеет.
А поводу S.P. - yeah, I do disagree with her on a few issues. Like with the most of conservative republicans.

care to name a few?

She's
a) pro-life,
b) not against Iraq war. Well, I think she, being a smart politician, does not want to offer any clear views on the war ("I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq"), but still thinks it is "a task that is from God".
c) opposes same-sex marriage.

all interesting to discuss, but rather not of first importance in current politico-economical situation.
a) her personal views will not make her to overthrow laws in place, for better or worse - there are legal/congressional mechanisms in place taking care of that
b)Iraq war is practically over. We won. As much as Democrats would want it to be the opposite, ans despite their best efforts.
c)is a non-issue, from many angles.

Much more important things that she brings are:
-prioritizing investment in energy development.
-she's willing to drastically cut government spending
-she has a record of going against corruption and "old-boy-network" corporatism, even if it means going against her own political party.

Besides, she has brains. She's capable of learning "on her feet". She has history of growing into job. And she thinks for herself and makes her own conclusions.
In my book, an excellent choice for a VP.

has a record of going against corruption... and former brothers-in-law

a) The views of the upcoming administration will definitely influence a lot events in this country. I am not against deep personal beliefs, I just don't want the upcoming administration to have them *if* they don't coincide with mine.

b) Maybe it's over, maybe it's not. Time will tell. But this reasoning ("it's over, and nothing you can do about it") could as well be employed by an arsonist saying "Hey, whether you want to admit it or not - the deed is done, the city is burned, the lives are lost - and nothing, not even your prosecution of this crime will bring them back. So, don't bother. Let's look into the future instead. I'll help you rebuild, guys.".
So, to be brief - this war is wrong, and whoever supported it will not get my vote.

c) Again, see a)

Regarding the other points you brought - yes, I hope so, and I agree with you, even though I cannot verify all of them at the moment due to lack of time.

Yeah, she's Palin' in comparison.

"Whalin' with Palin" - that would be a good series on the Discovery Channel.
19th-Oct-2008 12:05 am (UTC)
and not only on Discovery

Sounds almost like Marcia Gay Harden...
18th-Oct-2008 08:51 am (UTC)
...but not as gay :-)
18th-Oct-2008 01:05 pm (UTC)
...but much more harden.
